Shin Getter Robo: First Contact Act I and New Projects

First up, here's chapter 4 from Shin Getter Robo (Saga ver).

Sorry, still no Getter Robo G release. Apparently, Damage shall restart his translation efforts sometime next month. I apologize for the wait. Great Mazinger shall be released when the entire volume is completed, as per the translator's instructions.

Also, I'm looking for Japanese to English translators. I want to release more Dynamic Pro manga and speed up the translations of current projects. Working for free is a plus, but I'm also quite willing to pay.

Get in contact with me if you are willing to translate or know someone who might be. I have many potential projects, ranging from very short to long. So if you're worried about devoting time, talk to me and we should be able to reach an arrangement that best works for you and your schedule.

Moving on to other news...

I'm happy to announce two new projects.

First is Gekiman, which shall be done as a joint with Project Bite Me! Scanlations. They will be providing the scans and translation, while I typeset. So really, I'm just along for the ride. If you haven't done it already, go check out their work. They're translating Violence Jack and Enma-kun, among other great manga.

The other project is Getter Robo Bible. First, I just want to say that this will be an untranslated release. I bought the book a while back for personal enjoyment, and I've decided to scan it and release it as is due to fan demand. It's a very text heavy book, but there are tons of great pictures and concept sketches. If we're lucky, maybe it'll pique the interest of a translator (if so, contact me and I'll typeset). Probably not. But anyway, look forward to that!

Status Update

How's 2011 going for everyone?

As you've probably noticed, we haven't released anything new in a little bit. I've actually got the first three chapters (out of five total chapters) of Getter G scanned and ready to be translated. But, our illustrious translator Damage is in the busy process of moving, so the translation work has yet to begin. Great Mazinger is going steady, but I'm also waiting for a new group member to finish some editing work on that. So basically, here I am, sitting on my hands, unable to speed up any part of the process.

So, please bear with us. Once Getter G starts its release, it's going to be very quick since the volume is pretty much scanned and ready to go. As always, I'm steadily working on the saga version of Shin Getter Robo. If no Getter G/Great Mazigner releases happen anytime soon, I'll just fall back on that and release the one or two chapters of Shin Getter I have sitting around just to show that we're alive.

Thanks for understanding, and prepare yourself for Getter G! Ishikawa added an entirely new chapter devoted to Brai's origin (which ties in to later Getter Robo Saga) and completely redrew the final battle (which is about 100 pages of pure action!).

This release is the second and final new chapter in Shin Getter Robo. It's called "Crater Battle" and is unrelated to the main story (for more details, see this post).

As for the rest of Shin Getter Robo, I'll probably just release it as one whole volume now that I've got the entirely new chapters out of the way. There's still a lot of new material throughout the old chapters, so be sure to check it out once I release it.

Shin Getter Robo - Encounter with the Unknown

Today, I'm releasing the first new chapter in Shin Getter Robo.

It's called "Encounter with the Unknown". Some of you may notice that this chapter was adapted in the OVA, New Getter Robo.
I thought I'd release Shin Getter Robo as one complete volume, but I figured since I have some of the new material done, I might as well release it. Included with this new chapter are redone versions of the first two chapters, "Getter Robo vs Getter Robo G" and "A New Conflict". The quality difference between this and the old release is worlds apart.

Anyhow, enjoy.

I'll talk a bit about the other new material exclusive to this edition of Shin Getter Robo.

The second new chapter, called "Crater Battle" is actually just an extra story at the end of the book. It takes place during the Moon Wars that was the prequel to the OVA Shin Getter Robo Armageddon (Known in Japan as "Shin (Change!) Getter Robo: The Last Day of the World"). It obviously has no bearing on the manga story, but it's a fun read. Translation for it is complete, and I'll start the scanning process probably tomorrow or Monday.

The rest of the new content takes the form of additions and alterations to the original Shin Getter chapters. There's over 30 pages of new stuff! It mostly concerns Getter Emperor's scenes.

Scanning for Getter Robo G will start soon. Also, the Saga version of Shin Getter Robo is progressing smoothly (new chapters/sections are translated, two chapters are completed, resuming scanning soon). But that release will be much later, as I work on that intermittently between my other projects (Free time? What the hell is that!?).

Well, there you go. After this is the final chapter (and an extra chapter made especially for Getter Robo Saga, starring Musashi). Once that is finished, we'll be moving onto Getter Robo G which is 1 volume consisting of about 500 pages. Also, I'm currently working on the last volume of Mazinger Z, so expect that.
