Violence Jack Volume 1 Chapter 17

Yes! That's right. In conjunction with the living Gods of Hokuto no Gun and HappyScans!, we have started releasing Go Nagai's massively long manga - Violence Jack! This chapter picks up where the old scanlation left off. Many thanks to Project Bite Me! for starting the project, and you can be sure that we'll see it to its end.

Violence Jack Volume 1 Chapter 17

Also, I'm starting a recruitment campaign. As you can see, we've got a lot of projects going on right now and 2012 is going to be a very promising year for us. That said, we need more editors! Specifically, typesetters.
You may be thinking, "I'd be useless, I've never typeset before!"

But that's where you're wrong - what we need is dedicated people; dedication is far more important than skill. I will personally teach anyone who wants to help out how to typeset. Please join up and help us out! Right now, I'm the only editor for Violence Jack, Getter Robo Arc, Legend of Shutendoji, Mars, UFO Robo Grendizer, Great Mazinger, Kamen Rider and other upcoming projects such as Shin Mazinger Zero, Mazinger Angels and much, much more! If I can get a couple of new people to help share the load, our releases will be even faster and smoother. Don't be shy - either email me or comment on this post!

  1. I just sent an email saying that I'm willing to learn.

  2. Typsetters are just in charge of dropping in the text right? They get the pages cleaned up and the scripts to pull the text from? I might be able to help out in a couple of months, but I wanted to make sure I knew what you needed. (Sorry if the question is kinda "on the nose", just need to be sure before I volunteer.)

    1. Yes, specifically, typesetters put the text into word bubbles and whatnot. For our purposes, I would get any potential volunteers to input standard dialog and then I would do any dialog that is stylized or requires image editing along with cleaning up any errors. All in all, it'd be pretty simple and you wouldn't have to worry about doing a perfect job as I'd would check over everything and fix it up for release.

  3. This is Grrreat! I am so glad to see Violence Jack :)

And if I can help with the type-setting or whatever else, then sign me up, although I've never done anything like this before, I am willing to try.

  4. Thank you so much for reviving Violence Jack. It's like the nexus of all Nagai manga. All his characters appear in it, including Koji Kabuto from Mazinger Z. But I have a question... Project Bite Me, the original group who started the translation, lists chapters 1 to 15:
    http://projectbitemescans.blogspot.com/2010/10/violence-jack.html

And you're continuing with chapter 17... What happened to chapter 16?

    1. If you check sites like mangafox, you can easily find chapter 16 by Project Bite Me. Project Bite Me just probably never updated their chapter list.

    1. Well, if you sign up to help out, it's not going to be for specific series as that would kind of beat the purpose of helping me out. But if you're willing to work on anything that I'll need help with, feel free to email me. Thanks.

  8. Whoops, I accidently erased a comment by Gurotaku. Here's the original comment:

It's great to see that VIOLENCE JACK has a home again, and one where the complete scanlation of all 18 volumes with their 9000+ pages seems actually possible. JACK has always been among my most wanted Nagai scanlations, second only to the original DEVILMAN series.

Please feel free to incorporate those chapters I either worked on myself or commissioned over the years (KING OF THE BRUTES, EVIL TOWN, HELL'S WIND, DEMON SUMO) into your scanlation. I figure it'd save some time and work. If you'd prefer to redo those parts, for reasons of aesthetic continuity, for example, then that's cool as well, of course.

  11. Thank you for doing violence jack, I have been wondering how this rather long series would look in comparison to its OVA counterpart.

Also, I would love to help with any typesetting even though I like many others have no experience. If you would like my help contact me at: doublegomez@gmail.com
