Getter Robo Arc Complete (Torrent)

The final chapter of Getter Robo Arc was originally published in Super Robot Magazine Volume 14 (2003/09/19). If this were the original magazine publication, the story would end on page 354 of chapter 14. Instead, the Action Comics and Futabasha Getter Robo Saga printing have an additional 20 pages that Ishikawa added after the magazine was discontinued. But he would never get the chance to continue the series as he had planned. Ken Ishikawa passed away on 2006/11/15.

So ends the story of Getter's journey. From a manga that began in the 1970s to a life-long work stretching into the early 2000s. Each Getter series is its own story, but how they lead into each other is what makes them so compelling. It seemed that Getter Robo Arc was the beginning of the end for the Getter series in a lot of ways - but no one knows what could have been.

I just want to thank everyone that's helped me in my mission to get the Getter Robo series scanlated. OtherSideofSky, Damage, Tatari, C-K, donators, and many more. I've still yet to scan and edit the Saga version of Getter Robo Go, but as of now, the complete story of Getter Robo Saga is available in English. Enjoy the finale of Getter Robo.

In other scanlation news, my joint project with Hokuto no Gun and HappyScans has also been completed. Ken Ishikawa's Super Robot Retsuden is done!

  2. Thanks for completing the final Getter series by Ishikawa. Will you do his last manga (I believe it was some historical manga published in Sengoku Busho Retsuden) or another one from him not related to Getter?

  6. Finally the closure to the Getter Robo Saga. Well it wasn't really a closure considering all of the questions left unanswered with Ishikawa passing away and all that.

Anyway, I was wondering if there's a chance of getting Shin Mazinger Zero scanlated. I'm really craving for it.

  7. HNNNG! That ending is so painful to handle but I am still happy that I was finally able to read the whole Getter Robo Saga since I first watched Getter Robo Armaggeddon after all these years. Thank you so much for all your hard work and for making me one very happy Getter Robo fan <3.

I can't wait for whatever you guys have planned next. By the way, since you have Shin Mazinger Zero I was wondering if you got the next volume that apparently came out back in April [Vo.7 I think it is].

    1. That's the 3 volume Action Comics edition of Arc. The 2 volume Futabasha edition (the one I used) is exactly the same. Do you really think I don't even know when the manga I'm scanlating ends? Come on, man.

  12. Oh, ending. Ishikawa, you left this world too soon. On a lighter note, though spoiler, I'm glad he was able to keep up a sense of humor even the end. It's subtle, but "That Mushashi died," "Just get another one out of the fridge," might be one of the funniest jokes I've ever seen in Getter.

I look forward to you translating more of Ishikawa's works. I imaging the Kyomu Senki is high on the list, but I've very interested in reading Gokudo Heiji if you get around to it.

  13. Man, what a cliffhanger...

Seems like he was maybe setting up a showdown between Getter Dragon and Getter Emperor? Since Emperor is the Getter consciousness that was sent to Mars (at the end of... Getter Go?), it seems as though it was an entirely different entity than Getter Dragon (from Shin Getter?). Maybe the Hiyakki plan was to somehow merge the power of Getter Dragon with Bug? (I assume that Kamui's giant Getter-ish thing was Bug... right?)

    What could have been...!

  14. Great job. Thanks so much to everyone involved with this project. When i saw Getter Robo Armageddon at my first anime convention back in 2002, I became OBSESSED with seeing more of it. After several years of trying desperately to find the original manga translated, i had given up. Thank you for helping to bring this amazing science fiction epic to English audiences. You do Mr. Ishikawa a service by helping to share his life's work.

Speaking of the late master, does anyone know if his story notes for the rest of the series are available anywhere? I was just curious if some book or another (Getter Bible, maybe?) had ever published anything that ishikawa may have left behind about his intentions? Imagine a perfect world where Go Nagai himself took up the task of telling his late partner's final masterpiece the way he'd intended it... Ah wishful thinking

    1. I was under the impression that Getter Hien was based on notes Ishikawa was keeping before his passing. Or it may have been DASH/DARKNESS. I know it was one of those, just I don't remember which.

    2. I'm pretty sure Hien being based on Ishikawa's notes is some sort of baseless rumor. I've never once seen any kind of source for that info.

  15. Yeah ive always wondered why, if that was true, they'd tell a story that took place PRIOR to Arc instead of giving the series a proper conclusion.

  16. Can I ask where the Getter Robo Daikessen (ゲッターロボ大決戦) manga fits in with the rest of the series?

Is it just a side story with no relation to the main canon?

(And thanks for all the hard work you've put into scanlating this series)

    1. Getter Robo Daikessen is actually a couple different manga publications. I assume the one you're referring to is "Getter Robo Anthology - Getter Robo Daikessen". In addition to this one, there's also "Getter Robo Daikessen Comic" and "Getter Robo G Anthology - Daikessen! Getter Robo G".

Each one of these manga series are simply non-canonical stories or retellings compiled into a volume. A few of them are done by Ken Ishikawa, but many chapters are done by Go Nagai, Gosaku Ota and other artists.
