Mazinger Z Volume 4

Well, here it is.

Mazinger Z Volume 4
Megaupload

In this volume, the page numbering got thrown off at 41 in the raws, and I didn't realize early enough to feel like correcting it. No pages are missing.

Took longer than anticipated due to a number of factors on my part. Anyhow, let me fill you all in on what's going on around here.

I've been very, very busy with my (real!) editing job. I'm on a project right now that's going to last months, so things are gonna be sloooooow. But fear not, for I'll never drop my projects, despite disappearing for months at a time.

Project status updates:

Getter Robo: Another long ass chapter. In fact, the first part is 100 pages, and the second part is about as long. I've got a bit done of the first part. This is going to be my next release.

Majuu Sensen OVAs: Starseeker says its still on. So we'll get it eventually, once both she and I have some more free time.

Well, anyway, you've been warned. Things are going slow, but I'm going to try and pick up the pace. This month has been brutal for me in terms of work, and it's going to stay that way for the rest of February.

  1. Slow releases are better than no releases, which is what the mecha community dealt with for years before you guys showed up.

    Keep up the good work.

So I can wait without problems. Take your time translating!

A question! My english is not so good so I ddn't understad one thing. Do I need to reorder the pages in this volume? Or they are correctly numbered?

  4. Awesome!!!

Weird how Boss Borot just appears out of nowhere... I assume he was created for the anime and retrofitted into the manga...?

  5. So if Ma Zin Kaiser means Demon God Emperor, what does the Ger in Ma Zin Ger mean?

  6. >Weird how Boss Borot just appears out of nowhere...

Yeah, that threw me off. I would have liked a manga version of its origin.

    >So if Ma Zin Kaiser means Demon God Emperor, what does the Ger in Ma Zin Ger mean?

    Absolutely nothing.

  8. Basically Nagai made a semi-comicalize after he stopped serializing Mazinger Z in Shonen Jump and started serializing it in a Kodansha magazine. He completely scrapped his previous Shueisha continuity (something that was made not so apparent in this edition thanks to some weird cut/paste job) where there was no Boss Borot, Ashura and Blocken were already killed off etc. Not to mention Blocken, Sayaka and prof. Yumi had different designs (they were redrawn for the tankobon edition). The Shueisha version ends with Sayaka and Koji about to fight their final battle on Bardos island, and a chibi Nagai telling the readers that the manga ends here but the story will continue on TV.

  9. Oh, also, the ending was completely changed for the tankobon edition. It was originally a strict comicalize of the anime ending, but in the volume version we get fucking KING OF HELL.

That's just fucking typical. Why did Nagai do that sort of thing?
